2009-10 Minor Bantam - Minor Bantams Advance to Alliance Championship Series
Submitted By Wendy Dekoning on Wednesday, March 10, 2010
The Minor Bantams came home from London Monday night with a 2 -0 victory over the Knights Gold team earning them a place in the championship series.

The Lakers dominated the play throughout the game demonstrating the determination and grit they have shown all season. The first period saw the Lakers firing lots of pucks at the net but the period would end with no score on the board.

In the second period Mackenzie Carter passed the puck out to Quinten Haddock who took a hard shoot on net.  Jared Weishar buried the rebound for the Lakers' first goal. The Lakers displayed excellent team play on several penalty kills shut down any opportunities for London to capitalize on their powerplay.

The third period would see Jared Weishar score his second goal of the game from Haddock and Garrett James.  The shut-out was well earned by goalie Daniel Dekoning as he made some amazing saves at key points in the game.

The Lakers now face the Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs in a much anticipated match-up. The series pits the West and East Division champions against one another. These two teams have met four times this season, each winning a pair. As league champions, the Lakers will host the first game in St. Marys this Saturday at 5:30.
