News Release 2014- Knights to take on Otters at the Allman!

LONDON, ONTARIO: The Huron Perth Lakers AAA Minor Hockey Organization, in partnership with the Stratford Cullitons Jr. B Hockey Club, is proud to present an OHL Exhibition Game on Saturday, September 13th when the London Knights travel to Stratford to take on the Erie Otters

The puck drops at 7:00pm at the historic William Allman Memorial Arena (15 Morenz Drive, Stratford, Ontario).

This exhibition game will serve as a fundraiser for the Huron Perth Lakers Hockey Organization.  London Knights General Manager Mark Hunter understands how important it is to give back to the community.  “We’re fortunate enough to draw fans from London and the surrounding communities,” said Hunter.  “We’re looking forward to moving our exhibition game to Stratford this year and supporting the Huron Perth Lakers AAA Minor Hockey Organization.”

The Lakers are made up of seven teams plus a Major Midget Jr. Cullitons AAA team.  The Lakers zone AAA draws players predominately from Huron and Perth Counties.  The AAA program was established in 1996 out of a need to provide a higher level of hockey in the region.  Notable Alumni include the 2014 Lady Byng Memorial Trophy winner and current Colorado Avalanche forward Ryan O’Reilly and Washington Capitals’ goaltender Justin Peters.

Executive Director of Lakers, Mark Thibeault, is excited to have the teams on board for this preseason game.  “Having the opportunity to host an OHL pre-season exhibition game at the Allman Arena in Stratford is a fantastic way to start everyone's hockey season,” he said.  “I am thankful for the London Knights organization providing our minor hockey organization the opportunity.  We plan to make this a key fundraiser event for both of our hockey program while providing the Erie Otters and the London Knights an exceptional hockey experience.”

Stratford Mayor and Cullitons’ President, Dan Mathieson, is equally as excited.  “The Stratford Cullitons and the AAA Huron Perth Lakers are excited to enter a new partnership and bring some OHL action to the Allman Arena,” he said.  “We are thrilled to be bringing the London Knights to the City of Stratford.  We have tremendous support in our community for the Cullitons, Lakers and the OHL.  This will only strengthen the relationship that junior hockey has in our community.”

Fans looking to attend the game and show their support can do so by purchasing a $10 ticket.  Advanced tickets go on sale Thursday, July 31st at the Stratford Cullitons main box office (inside William Allman Memorial Arena) from 6pm and 7pm daily.  Tickets can also be purchased at Stratford Country Club (53 Romeo St. North, Stratford, ON) from 9am – 6pm seven days a week up until Labour Day.
