2011-12 Tryout Information
The Huron-Perth Lakers AAA Minor Hockey Association has scheduled tryouts for selecting the following year’s teams in April (for Minor Atom to Minor Midget) and August (for Major Midget). These tryouts are open to
all players from within the Huron-Perth zone (an invitation is not required) as well as out of zone players with proper documentation (see the Out of Zone player policy below). For a list of the 24 local centres within the Huron-Perth zone,

Scheduled Tryouts (April: Minor Atom to Minor Midget; August: Major Midget):
• The tryout fee for the scheduled tryouts is $50 for up to six scheduled tryouts.
• Any player who is registered on or before the second scheduled tryout date is entitled to a minimum of 2 tryouts within the first 3 tryouts before he or she can be released.
• Any player who registers on the third scheduled tryout date or any tryout date thereafter may be released after one tryout skate.
Supplementary Tryout:
• A supplementary tryout may be offered for those teams that still have at least one open roster spot after the scheduled tryouts.
• Supplementary tryouts are primarily for out of zone players or players moving into the zone after the scheduled tryouts.
• The fee for this supplementary tryout is $50 per player.

No player is allowed to attend tryouts without a completed and authorized Permission to Skate form as found below:

Tryout Checklist
In preparation for attending tryouts please make sure you bring the following:
• completed registration form
• $50 tryout fee
• completed and authorized Permission to Skate form
• completed and authorized OHF AAA Waiver, for those players
not from one of the Lakers' 24 local centres (see Out of Zone policy below)
• full equipment (mouth guards are optional as they are not required by ALLIANCE Hockey)
Out of Zone Policy
The Huron-Perth Lakers AAA Minor Hockey Association has an “Out of Zone” player policy for players who are property of other ALLIANCE or non-ALLIANCE AAA organizations coming over for our AAA tryouts through an OHF AAA Waiver as follows:
a) The Coach needs to apply to the Hockey Operations Committee for permission to sign an Out of Zone Player.
b) The Coach needs to state a case on why an “Out of Zone Player” should take the place of an “In Zone Player”.
c) Maximum of 2 “Out of Zone Players” per team per year.
d) The Minor Atom team is exempt from requirement (c).
Players from “out of zone” registering for tryouts MUST present the Huron-Perth Lakers with the following documents and will NOT be allowed to register without them:
a) A signed OHF AAA Hockey Waiver from their home AAA centre.
b) A signed ‘Permission to Skate’ form from their home centre.
c) A signed OHF AAA Hockey Waiver from any AAA centre or centres that they are traveling through, to tryout in Huron-Perth.
Participation in the tryouts without these documents is in violation of OHF rules, and can result in suspensions to the player/players and the association involved.
Try-out Information Package
Each Lakers team has a try-out information package containing information on the Lakers organization, our try-outs, and the coaching philosophy for that particular team. Try-out information packages will be made available once next season's coaches are announced and will be found in our on-line library (
