OHF AAA Hockey Waivers

Players who are unsuccessful at Lakers tryouts have the opportunity to receive an OHF AAA Hockey Waiver to allow them to tryout with a AAA team from an adjacent association in accordance with both Huron-Perth Lakers and ALLIANCE Hockey policies. The associations that are adjacent to Huron-Perth include:
Brant (Brantford 99'ers)
Cambridge (Cambridge Hawks)
Elgin-Middlesex (Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs)
Grey-Bruce (Grey-Bruce Highlanders)
Guelph (Guelph Jr. Storm)
Lambton (Lambton Jr. Sting)
Kitchener (Kitchener Jr. Rangers)
Waterloo (Waterloo Wolves)

The Huron-Perth Lakers AAA Minor Hockey Association has a NO RELEASE policy for players within the Huron-Perth Lakers zone. However, there are certain conditions that do apply for granting OHF AAA Hockey Waivers provided the player registers for a try-out:
a) A player must attend scheduled tryouts, be released from the team by the Head Coach, and the Executive of the Huron-Perth Lakers AAA Minor Hockey Association must approve the release.
OR
b) The Huron-Perth Lakers AAA Minor Hockey Association is unable to assemble a team in the player’s specific age group. However, if a team subsequently folds due to a lack of signed players NO waivers will be issued to any player that did not attend the scheduled try-outs or has refused to sign with the team.
OR
c) The Executive of the Huron-Perth Lakers AAA Minor Hockey Association deems the request for release as a VALID or EXCEPTIONAL circumstance.
A player wishing to receive an OHF AAA Hockey Waiver under section a) of this policy must, at a minimum:
1. complete a try-out registration form and submit the try-out fee;
2. submit a valid permission to skate form; and
3. receive confirmation from the Head Coach of the team covered by the try-out registration and permission to skate form that a roster spot for that Lakers team will not be offered.

Occasionally, there are players from beyond the Huron-Perth zone who are looking for a waiver to allow them to attend tryouts in a different AAA zone. In those cases, out of zone players must submit:
a) a completed Lakers Tryout Registration Form;
b) a $50 tryout fee; and
c) a completed and authorized OHF AAA Waiver from their local AAA zone and any zones they are passing through to reach Huron-Perth.
Upon submission of all of the above-required material (items a-c), the decision will be made whether the player will be required to skate at a tryout before a waiver is considered for the player or not.

Please note that waivers are not issued before tryouts commence (for the 2011-12 season, tryouts commence on April 11, 2011).

To request an OHF AAA Hockey Waiver or if you have any questions regarding the process, please email Greg Barclay, Huron-Perth Lakers ALLIANCE Rep.

ALLIANCE Hockey policy on Ontario Hockey Federation AAA Hockey Waivers ("waivers")

ALLIANCE Hockey member associations or AAA zones ("associations") will not issue waivers prior to a player registering for the association's try-outs or to players who are seeking an association of their choice.

Associations may only issue waivers to players from their own association.

If an association issues a waiver to a player, the player then becomes eligible to try-out in any of the player's adjacent associations.
Adjacent associations are those identified on the back of the waiver form.

In the event that all of the player's adjacent associations either:
a) do not accept waivers, or
b) the player cannot try-out as there are no available roster spots on the AAA team in the participant's age level, then the player may apply to become eligible to try-out in one additional association as chosen by the ALLIANCE Executive Director.

Where a player has only one adjacent association and the player is not offered a roster spot on that adjacent association's team, the player may apply to become eligible to try-out in one additional association as chosen by the ALLIANCE Executive Director.

The decision of the Executive Director as to whether an additional association will be chosen and if it is, which association is chosen, is at the sole discretion of the Executive Director and is not subject to appeal. In determining which additional association is chosen, the Executive Director may consider whatever factors the Executive Director considers appropriate including, but not limited to, the proximity of the player's residence to the additional association and the past performance of the additional association's team at that age level.
