Minor Atom Lakers Lose To London and Hamilton
This past weekend saw the Minor Atom Lakers host the London Jr. Knights and the Hamilton Huskies.   The game against the Jr. Knights was one to forget.

The visiting team scored early and often and the Lakers  found themselves chasing the puck and trapped in their defensive end the majority of the game against one of the best teams in Ontario.  We won't mention the final score but the two Lakers goals were scored by Visneskie and Olmstead with each of them picking up assists on each other's goals as well. Second assist on the Olmstead goal went to Kipfer.

On Sunday the Lakers hosted the Huskies in a divisional match up. The Lakers slow start cost them as they went down early 3-0 but then battled back. However it was too little too late as the Huskies took the game 4-3.

After the early Husky goals, Boersma made some great saves to keep his team alive while the defence limited the Husky opportunities. The opening Laker goal was scored by Fraser after taking a neutral zone pass from Hodge, broke wide around the defence and slid a backhand past the Hamilton goalie.

In the third the Lakers continued to battle cutting the lead 4-2 when Harmer fired a wrister under the glove of the Husky netminder while shorthanded for an unassisted tally.

Late in the period the Lakers pulled Boersma for an extra attacker and Harmer scored his second of the game on a rebound after a Jewitt shot. The Lakers continued to press in the final seconds but we're not able to get the puck over the goal line to tie the game.

This coming weekend is the final three regular season games for the Lakers as they travel to Waterloo Friday night, host the Kitchener Rangers on Saturday in St. Mary's and travel to Komoka on Sunday to face the Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs. Check the game times on the Lakers website and come on out and cheer on the boys as they make a push to the playoffs!!!
