Things are Getting Interesting
Submitted By Steve McIver on Saturday, March 06, 2010
More upsets this week as teams continue on the road to the 2010 All Ontario Peewee Championship.

After knocking off the Alliance #1 Seeded London Jr Knights in the Quarter Finals, the Sun County Panthers did it again in the Semi Final by upsetting the East Division Champs- Kitchener Jr Rangers 3 games to 2. But it doesnt end there! Waterloo Wolves have been showing they want the right to represent the Alliance by knocking off the #2 Seeded Elgin Middlesex Chiefs 3 games to 2 in the other Semi.

The plot thickens as 2 unlikely team in Waterloo & Sun County battle for the Alliance Championship & prove that come playoff time, the Regular Season doesnt matter!

The GTHL is almost set to start their Championship Series as the Toronto Titans defeated the Vaughan Kings 4-0-1 to get to the Final where they wait for the winner between the #1 Toronto Marlies & the Mississauga Rebels. The Marlies hold the edge with a 3-1-1 series lead.

The Gloucester Rangers are the OMHA Rep for the Ontario Winter Games & when they return from Muskoka, the Ottawa Valley Titans will be rested & waiting for them. Ottawa got past the Sting in 4 games while Gloucester battled the Cumberland Jr grads to a 3-1 series win.

Up North, the Nickel City Sons continue to dominate making short work of Sudbury in 3 games to reach the Final, while it took 5 games for the North Bay Trappers to knock off Sault Ste Marie. Nickel City & North Bay are set to square off in the final starting tomorrow (Mar 7th)

In the OMHA, the Whitby Wildcats were selected to attend the Winter Games & will return to continue their ETA Semi Final series against the South Central Predators. The other Semi will see Greater Kingston faceoff against York Simcoe. In the SCTA, the Championship Qualifying weekend is set for March 12th in Welland.

March 12th is also a big weekend up in Thunder Bay as Hockey Northwestern Ontario will crown their respective Champion in a tournament format for the right to represent the HNO in St. Marys.

Big games are yet to be played. But to date it is obvious anything can happen & more surprises are definitely on the way! Things are shaping up to be extremely exciting in St Marys thats for sure!!
