PrintTryouts and Freedom of Movement from Minor Bantam to Minor Midget
The following is a review which outlines the Spring 2019 tryouts and the New Freedom of Movement Policy for Minor Bantam AAA to Minor Midget AAA.

Tryouts
AAA tryouts may begin as early as April 15th and must end April 30th (timelines have been extended to account for Easter which falls during the tryout time period).

Seeded (AA/A) tryouts may not begin until May 1st.   Consult your local Association for start dates.

Important Dates and Rules:

*All Minor Bantam - Bantam will be required to complete their Declaration of Intent to Play Form by the Sunday of tryouts 11:59pm, (April 28th).

*All Minor Midget will be required to complete their Declaration of Intent to Play Form by April 23rd (to accommodate the OHF/OHL Under 15 Camps).
Any player not on their home centre/zone Intent to play form will become a “free agent” within the ALLIANCE.
Tryouts shall end April 25th (the final two days are to allow teams to consider these free agents for their final roster spots).

*Exceptions to the above: the Hamilton Huskies and Burlington Eagles are required to complete tryouts in 7 days, by April 21st.

*All Minor Bantam - Minor Midget Hamilton Huskies and Burlington Eagles will be required to complete their Declaration of Intent to Play Form by the Friday 11:59pm of tryouts (April 19th).

*Hamilton Huskies and Burlington Jr Cougars/BLOMHA combined tryouts may begin April 22nd (Rule G2B).

*The OHF does not recognize AAA hockey at Novice.  The 2019-20 season will be the final year for Spring tryouts at Novice.  Those who have schedule Novice tryouts, may begin on April 15th.

New for the 2019-20 Season

1.  Participants must tryout in the Centre/Zone in which they reside and will not be granted a release upon request. Woolwich and Centre Wellington participants are shared with the Waterloo and Guelph Zones and must tryout in both Zones prior to being eligible for ALLIANCE Hockey Freedom of Movement. All Zone AAA tryouts require a permission to skate form from their Home Centre.

2.  A player trying out for Minor Bantam AAA and above, who participated on an OHF ALLIANCE Hockey F1 Form Waiver in their previous season has the option to remain and tryout with their current team or return to their Home Centre/Zone for tryouts. Players not exercising their option to remain with their current team must return to their Home Centre/Zone and tryout prior to obtaining an F1 Waiver.  ALLIANCE Hockey F1 Form participants are defined as those residents who reside within ALLIANCE Hockey Residential territory.   Home Centres/Zone coaches who would like to invite a player who is playing with a different team on a F1 Waiver back to tryouts in their Home Centre may do so, but not until the player has completed their current season. In this case the Home Centre/Zone is not tampering provided the coach waits until the player is finished his season and prior to the commencement of tryouts.

3.  All Participants must tryout and be released in accordance with each Member Association Centre/Zone tryout policy and as per the ALLIANCE Hockey tryout schedule.

Accompanying paperwork may be one of the following:

· Those participants who choose the option to stay with their F1 Association at Minor Bantam or above do not require a permission to skate or an F1 Waiver as to be consistent with practice as it relates to participants who move from Minor to Major years,

· Permission to skate from Home Centre,

· F1 Form Waiver (electronic version as of the 2019-20 season),

· A Permission to Tryout granted by the OHF in consultation with the Member Partner

4.  All teams will be required to complete their Declaration of Intent to Play Form by 11;59 pm two days prior to the end
of tryouts for all players they have committed to.  Any player not on their Home Centre/Zone Intent to Play form will then become a “free Agent” must be given their F1 Form Waiver upon request and are able to tryout with any ALLIANCE Hockey centre. For example if Sunday is the last day of tryouts, players will need to be on the Intent to Play Form by Friday 11:59pm.

The final two days will allow teams to consider these free agents for their final roster spots.

Note: Players who are released from their home centre/zone who choose to go to a team outside of ALLIANCE Hockey will be required to obtain waivers as per previous practice.

5.  The only release applicable for movement within ALLIANCE AAA Hockey competition is an OHF AAA Hockey Waiver. If a participant does not have an OHF AAA Waiver they are not permitted to tryout. The OHF AAA Waiver will be obtained electronically from their Home Centre/Zone if requested per ALLIANCE Hockey Policy.

6.  Once released and in possession of an OHF AAA Waiver, an ALLIANCE Hockey participant may tryout with any other ALLIANCE Hockey Centre/Zone Member Association.

7.  Member Association Centre/Zone policies re the number of import players who are eligible to play for their teams will still apply.

Rationale:
To allow more freedom of movement for participants within ALLIANC Hockey after initial tryout and release from the player’s home Centre/Zone.

To allow choice at Minor Bantam and above by giving the participant the option to remain with their current F1 Form Waiver team or return to their Home Centre/Zone to tryout.

To strengthen AAA teams by allowing players who are capable of playing at the AAA level options if they are released by their Home Centre/Zone.

To maintain as many competitive AAA teams in our League as possible.

To reduce the administrative paperwork for players that were simply 'passing through' the F1 Waiver box on their way to another Centre.

Notes:
This will reduce the administrative paperwork for players that were simply passing through the F1 Waiver box on their way to another centre because the F1 Waiver can be used by a released ALLIANCE player to go anywhere within the ALLIANCE.

Players who are released from their Home Centre who choose to go to a team outside of ALLIANCE Hockey will be required to obtain waivers as per previous practice.
