Minor Midget Coach Represents Lakers Well
Shaun Peet, our Minor Midget coach reflected well on the Lakers recently as he was a guest reader at a literacy function at St Mary's elementary school in Goderich. Shaun embodies the Laker image as a Student Athlete having played hockey on a scholarship in the NCAA with Cornell.
St. Mary's School in Goderich celebrated literacy month during November.
The children read over 7,000 books and participated in "Snuggle Up
and Read with a Buddy PJ Day", a "Literacy Play Day", a
"Dress as Your Favourite Book Character Day" and to top it all
off we celebrated "Literacy Night". Over 300 people packed the
school lobby and gym. All were treated to free milk and cookies, every
child received a free book and local celebrities read their favourite
stories. Kati Durst (Cdn. Idol Finalist), Eric Coates (Artistic Director
of Blyth Theatre), Dave Newman (FM 101.7 Morning DJ), Shaun Peet (AAA
Hockey Coach), Snippety the Clown, Mayor Shewfelt and Larry Langan were
our guest readers. The kids were excited about reading!
