Minor Atoms Force Game 5
The Minor Atoms travelled back to the Carling Arena on February 23 for Game 3 against the Jr. Knights. The Lakers had another strong defensive game and with excellent goaltending by Wyatt Nicholson and a strong penalty killing effort, the first period ended with no score.

London opened scoring in the second but the Lakers quickly tied it up with a power play goal from Chayse Herrfort on a play from Keenan Conlon and Cole McKee. Nicholson continued to be strong between the pipes and the second period ended with one a piece.

Herrfort produced another power play goal in the third with assists going to Brent West and Ryley Cribbin. Followed by another Lakers goal from Dominic Burbine on a play from Kyle Jones and Nick Jung.  The Knights scored a breakaway goal with 57 seconds remaining, but the Lakers played hard for their 3-2 victory.

Game 4 saw both teams come out strong with good end-to-end hockey throughout the first period. The Lakers were strong on the power play, with Liam Melady opening the scoring with a shot from the point, on a pass from Conlon; after excellent control and many chances from the whole shift.

London tied the game up in the second period and then took the lead on a power play goal. The Lakers fought back hard and continued their excellent passing plays for many great opportunities. Justin McCarter tied the game with a beautiful top shelf goal with the assist going to McKee and the Lakers were once again in the lead on a goal by Herrfort from McKee and Jacob Hrudka. The period ended in a tie as London came back with one more power play goal.

The Knights started the third period off with a quick short-handed goal. Brandan Bean was strong in net, keeping the Lakers in the game with many excellent saves. The Lakers once again tied the game on another power play goal by Herrfort from Jon Baker and McCarter. The period ended at 4-4 and the Lakers played a strong 5-minute overtime ending the game in a tie.

The Minor Atoms will be facing the Knights for Game 5 Monday night at the Western Fair Sports Complex at 6:30.
