Laker MP's Reach 20th Regular Season Win
With five games remaining in league play the Huron Perth Laker Minor Peewees secured their 20th win of the season with a 4-1 win over Cambridge to give the squad a 20-4-3 record in regular season play. The year to date record for the Minor Peewee squad is an astounding 34-9-6 a terrific accomplishment for a team that has done all the right things to ensure their success.

The Minor Peewees travelled to Sarnia last week to face the Sting and came away with a resounding 5-1 win, allowing only 8 shots, including just a single shot in the first and again only one shot in the second. The Laker squad cruised to victory on the backs of a solid team effort that included 5 different scorers and another 6 different players with helpers. A total of eleven different players factored in on the score sheet in this 5-1 win in what has become the signature of this well rounded team.

Saturday, the Lakers held a home stand against the Cambridge Hawks, a team that has played strong against the Lakers and many others this year. The Lakers squad played a sound game despite it being a penalty-filled affair; of note, the Lakers penalty kill was outstanding. The Lakers again held their opposition to very few shots allowing only one in the first period and 3 in the second with a total of eleven against. The Lakers handily won 4-1. Again of note, the Lakers squad had three goals scored by players who had not factored in on Thursday night's goals.

This team is still working toward its best game and the excitement is growing as they head into a battle for Eastern Division Champions. The Lakers are in the stronger of the two divisions with Brantford, Waterloo and the Lakers all being ranked in the top 35 in North America. It makes for tough competition and exciting hockey and surely will keep the crowds on the edge of their seats for the next couple of months!
