Although results from the regional skills challenge are not yet available, it was clear that the Lakers players held their own and conducted themselves admirably as representatives of our organization.

The Regional Skills Challenge was the second step in determining who will represent Canada at the Hockey Canada Skills Challenge being held in Quebec City in May, 2008. The first step involved testing being completed at the team level. From the team level testing, a specific number of players were chosen to participate in the regional testing.

After the regional testing, a certain number of players and goaltenders who participated in the regional testing will be invited to take part in the Toronto Maple Leafs Skills Competition, which will be held on February 10, 2008 at the Air Canada Centre.

The results for the top five ranked goaltenders across the OHF will be submitted to Hockey Canada with the overall five best goaltenders across Canada being invited to participate in the Hockey Canada Skills Challenge.

From the regional testing, the skater with the best overall ranking from each OHF Member Partner (ALLIANCE Hockey, GTHL, NOHA, and OMHA) will be invited to participate in the Hockey Canada Skills Challenge.

While in Quebec City, participants in the Hockey Canada Skills Challenge will also take part in skills sessions and specialty clinics, attend 2008 IIHF World Championship games, and receive a jersey and other participation gifts.
