PeeWees Start Playoffs on the Road Against Waterloo
The PeeWee HP Lakers started off their play-off run with a 4-0 loss to the Waterloo Wolves on Saturday, January 26th.

The team entered the play-offs having played some of its better hockey of the year. While not picking up many victories, the players were putting more consistent efforts together and were feeling more confident about their play.

Saturday’s game saw some strong play by the Lakers; however, a number of mental breakdowns led to Waterloo goals.  On the 1st shift of both the 1st and 2nd periods, the Lakers surrendered goals off plays that lacked the intensity necessary at this level of play. Waterloo picked up 1 goal in the 1st and 3 in the 2nd however were kept off the score sheet in the 3rd. The team was out shot 21-11 over the course of the game. Outside of a challenging 2nd period however, the Lakers held the Wolves to just 8 shots on goal and managed to muster a number of good scoring chances throughout the match.

While separated in the standings quite substantially, the Lakers have managed to stack up quite well against the Wolves so they certainly aim to give them a run for their money in Game 2 of the Series, this Saturday afternoon in Brussels.
