Lakers Minor Midget Coach, Jason Baier, moves on to coach Junior B
Jason Baier, Coach for the Minor Midget Lakers, has accepted the position of Assistant Coach with the Listowel Cyclones Junior B team.

Although the Lakers organization is disappointed with Coach Baier’s resignation, we’re proud of the role we’ve played in furthering Jason’s development as a coach and wish him well as he pursues his coaching interests at a higher level. In announcing his resignation, Coach Baier praised the Lakers organization saying “I want to thank you – the Lakers - for giving me the opportunity of coaching at, and with your organization the past 3 seasons, without such an opportunity provided I would not be the coach and more importantly the person I am today.”

Jason was an Assistant Coach with the Lakers with both the 2004-05 Major Bantam team and the 2005-06 Minor Midget team. For the 2006-07 season, he moved up to be Head Coach for the very successful Lakers Major Bantam team and coached them to the finals for the ALLIANCE Hockey Bantam AAA Championship.

In reflecting on his experience with the Lakers, Jason commented that “the gratification and reward of seeing players develop on and off the ice were something I will always cherish and remember.” He also indicated he “will continue to speak very highly of the “Laker Experience”, and the fantastic option they provide for athletes (and their parents) and coaches.”

“As an organization we are proud to be a stepping stone for our coaches and athletes to take their ambitions to the next level,” commented Todd Goetz, Chair of the Lakers Hockey Operations Committee. Although appointing a new coach for the Minor Midget team is a high priority for the Lakers Executive, finding a qualified coach is not expected to be an issue as it provides an amazing opportunity for a qualified coach that enjoys working with high performance athletes in their Minor Midget year. This team is set to build on the previous extremely successful season having won the Eastern Division Championship in 2006/2007. Anyone interested in applying for this position please contact Todd Goetz at 519-482-1541.

The Huron-Perth Lakers wish Jason success in his new role with the Listowel Cyclones.
