Minor Atoms Battle for Playoffs
Minor Atoms Finish League Play

On Saturday, the Minor Atoms played Kitchener Rangers with a 7-7 tie. This gave the Lakers 1 point closer to making it in the top round for playoffs. Cody Treble scored the 1st goal with a low wrist shot assisted by Bradley Kraemer on a power play. Noah Kuno scored the 2nd goal with a nice deke assisted by Tanner Hertel and Eric Charlebois. Mitchell Newson scored the 3rd goal unassisted with a nice wrist shot over the goalie's shoulder. Tanner Hertel scored the next 2 goals assisted by Noah Kuno on a 2 on 1 and on a drop cycle in the corner. Will Thibeault scored the 6th goal with a low shot five hole assisted by Scott Chisholm and Justin Beuermann. Quinton Maddock scored the 7th goal from the point assisted by Tanner Hertel and Mitchell Newson on a power play. Jacob Rooke played outstanding backchecking and forechecking with a couple good chances to score but the luck went to the Kitchener goaltender. Brock Baier and Baily Paquette shared the net with 18 shots, the Lakers had 21 shots.


On Sunday, the Minor Atoms played Brantford 99er's with a 2-0 lost, a tough one for the Lakers killing off 16 minutes in penalties to Brantford's 2 minutes. This was a game the Lakers and Brantford wanted for certain playoff spots, the Lakers beat Brantford the last 3 times but this was Brantford's time with the help of the officials. The Minor Atoms out shot the 99er's 10-9.
