Laker Atoms Season Begins with Strong Effort
The Huron Perth Laker Atoms opened their regular season against the Cambridge Hawks on September 27. The team came out strong skating end to end with the Cambridge team who had defeated the Lakers 7-2 in pre-season play.

Goalie Joab Egbers (BCH) put in a great effort to keep the Lakers close throughout the game as well as the defence whose strong play limited scoring opportunities. The game was penalty filled, especially with the Lakers being targeted throughout the third period, but strong penalty killing efforts by the team, led by Justin McCarter (South Huron) and Luka Marinic (Goderich) helped keep the score at a 2-1 loss.  Lakers goal was scored by Chayse Herrfort (Minto) from McCarter. The Lakers were happy to welcome Liam Melady (Seaforth) back to the Lakers roster as this was his first game of the season with the team.

The following day, the Lakers Atoms faced off against Hamilton for the first home game of the year. However, the team sputtered after a strong effort the day before in Cambridge and gave up three goals in the first. The Lakers fought back hard throughout the remainder of the game but could not come all the way back. Final score was 5-3 for the Reps with Lakers goals going to Marinic, Jacob Hrudka (South Huron) and Cole McKee (Listowel) and assists to Nick Jung (Elma Logan), Nicole Zabel (Minto), Grant McPherson (Stratford) and McKee.
