Team Personnel, Roster, Major Atom, 2008-09 (Huron Perth Lakers)

Corey is an Intermediate level coach, who coached at the Tyke, Novice, Bantam and Sr. levels before joining the coaching staff for Lakers Minor Atom ('97) team. This past season he was the Head Coach for the '98 Minor Atoms and will be returning to coach this group in their Major Atom year.

Corey's approach to coaching emphasizes teaching these young players to play to the best of their ability, with a competitive spirit, while understanding the importance of fair play & team play. Corey intends to see all his players improve over the coming year and recognizes that at this age FUN is important so as to ensure these players continue to enjoy the great game of hockey.

Corey grew up in Belgrave and played minor hockey in both Belgrave and Wingham. His Junior hockey experience consisted of Listowel Cyclones (Jr.B), Brussels Bulls (Jr.C), Exeter Hawks (Sr.) as well as playing in the WOAA senior ranks for 13 years.

A resident of Palmerston, Darcy's coaching experience stretches back well over a dozen years. Previous to serving as Head Coach for the ’98 Minor Peewee team he was an Assistant Coach for the Lakers '98 Minor and Major Atom teams. He also coached in Listowel and Minto where he lead the Minto Novice rep team to an OMHA title.

Building on the ’98 Minor Peewee’s success of this past season, Darcy has a clear sense of direction as to the future of the '98 team: Develop players’ abilities throughout a consistent regular season and prepare mentally for a strong playoff achievement. To do this he has identified that hard work, a clear focus and a commitment to thinking the game will develop both individual skills and strong team play. As a student of the game, he wants to instil his leadership, knowledge, mental toughness and love for the game within his players, thus empowering them to reach their full potential.
