The time has come- It's Our Turn!
The Lakers Minor Midget team is entering this season with the goal of making it one of their most successful years. After consistently ranking near the top of the League each season, the ’93 team plans on earning a shot to win the elusive League Championship.

With 2 pre-season wins already under their belt, the Lakers already show signs of definite improvement over last season. Plus with the new Coach taking a no nonsense approach, the team will be focused, motivated & well-disciplined. The team will take to the ice on August 12th to begin summer skates in preparation for the puck to drop in September.

Key new additions to this years team will be expected to elevate their game quickly, but with an extremely talented core group of returning players, the transition for the newcomers will be fairly swift.

Goaltending

-          The Lakers made no changes at this position as the tandem pairing of Jake Partridge & Brett O’Drowsky have the ability to stymie any teams top snipers game in & game out.

Defence

-          Championship teams need Defence to win & the Lakers are definitely in great shape. With 4 returning defensemen in Mac Nichol, Nik McIver, Jordan Currie & Austin Spencer, they boast a lethal combination of offensive & defensive ability. Add in the experience and ability of newcomer Nick Tybik & the team solidifies a backend that may not be matched across the league.

Forward

-          The Offence saw the biggest tune-up for this season & it may prove to be one the best assembled. The Lakers welcome the return of past players Mitch McIntosh & Sam Feagan along with newcomers Alex Kuntz & Dylan Williams. Along with the desire, they have shown that they can & will compete with the Top players in our League. The scary part for opposing teams now is the potent possibilities when you mix in proven snipers Garrett Meurs, Calvin Penney & Brad McClure with the aggressive forechecking & scoring touch of George Armstrong, Ryan Chambers & David Dalby. It can easily be said-"The best is yet to come!"!

Overall, the 2008-09 Huron Perth Lakers ‘AAA’ Minor Midget team is solid from front to back. Each shift of every game, the players on this team will make a difference!
