Minor Midgets take 3 out of 4 weekend Points
A trip to Hamilton this past Saturday is just what was needed for the Minor Midget Lakers. After dropping their first 2 Regular Season games, the team was in need of a win to maintain their confidence.

Just as in most of the previous games the Lakers dominated from the drop of the puck. But a good performance by the Hamilton netminder kept things extremely tight as time ticked off the clock (when they remembered to start it!). Going deep into the 3rd period, the Lakers were holding onto a slim 1-goal lead.  With just over a minute to go, Hamilton pulled their goalie & the Lakers capitalized immediately to skate away with a 3-1 win & their 1st win of the Regular Season.

On Sunday, the Lakers played host to the Kitchener Rangers- a team that had already disposed of Windsor & Sun County to carry a 2-0 record into the game. Calvin Penney opened the scoring just over a minute into the game with an unassisted marker that banked off the end boards & found its way into the back of the net. But the lead was short lived as Kitchener tallied before the end of the period to draw even.

Brad McClure put the Lakers back on top midway through the 2nd period with assists going to Mitch McIntosh & Nik McIver. But once again Kitchener pulled even before the period expired to carry a 2-2 tie into the 3rd. The teams settled for a defensive stance in the final period to settle for a point each. The Lakers outshot Kitchener 27-16.

Next up for the Minor Midgets is Lakers Day on Saturday October 4th when the team hosts the Lambton Jr. Sting at 7:30pm in Goderich. The team then takes to the ice again in Goderich on Sunday for a return game vs. Hamilton at 5:30pm.
