Minor Peewees Tie Elgin-Middlesex, Beat Hamilton and Lambton
One week ago the Minor PeeWees jumped out to a 4-0 lead half way through the 2nd period only to have it slip away as they allowed Elgin-Middlesex to pull their goalie for the extra attacker and score with only seconds remaining to tie the game at 4-4. The team was playing shorthanded with several players sick and one still away on vacation, but there are no excuses for squandering a 4-0 lead. Thanks to AP, Jake Finlayson, for filling in on short notice. Keaton Middleton, MacKinnon Hawkins and Jon Baker had 2 pts each while Jared Nash, Nicole Zabel, Nick Jung and Jake Finlayson each had one. Wyatt Nicholson got the tie in goal for the Lakers.

On Saturday in Hamilton the Lakers played well for 2 periods only to collapse in the third again. Leading by a score of 4-1 the Lakers managed to keep it exciting by letting Hamilton score twice in the last few minutes for a wild 4-3 final score. Hamilton’s goalie put on a display turning aside many golden opportunities by the Lakers.  Scoring for the Lakers were: Jared Nash with 2, Nick Jung and Jon Baker each with one. Tristan Lewis got the win in net for the Lakers.

The trend seemed to continue on Sunday when the Lakers beat Lambton by a score of 7-6. A surprising score given that the Lakers and Lambton are 2 of the best teams in the goals against department. The Jr. Sting got out to a 2-0 lead before the Lakers responded with 3 straight goals to take the lead. Lambton tied it at 3-3 before each team traded another goal each and the Lakers then pulled ahead to a 7-4 lead with less than 2 minutes to play. Lambton would go on to score twice in the final two minutes and narrowly miss the chance to tie with 8 seconds remaining. Wyatt Nicholson got the win in net for the Lakers. Penalty killing seemed to be a problem for the Lakers as they gave up 3 goals shorthanded. A TEAM commitment to defensive play for the entire game will be a focus for the team in the coming weeks as playoffs start in early February. The Lakers still sit in 1st place, atop the Alliance standings with 39 points.

Skate 365 Synthetic Ice
Located in Mt. Forest, Skate 365 is a retailer of synthetic ice. Contrary to real ice, Synthetic ice requires no cold weather, refrigeration or watering. Synthetic ice is composed of special synthetic polymers so its surface can be enjoyed year-round and in all temperatures. Skating on Synthetic ice gives the same effect and feel as real ice. Hockey players state that the effects of the puck on synthetic ice respond the same way as real ice. Imagine being able to practice skating routines or playing hockey in your own driveway in the middle of summer on regular steel edge skates! Roller blades on pavement does not offer the same sensation nor does it offer the same puck response for hockey players. There is no adapting to synthetic ice, it’s as close as you can get to real ice without freezing and what you learn in your sport will be applied the same way on real ice. Common Applications Hard surfaces like basement floors, garage floors or tennis courts are typical installation sites. Panels can also be installed on hardwood floors or asphalt / cemented parking lots and driveways.
