Minor Atoms Split the Weekend Games
Minor Atoms faced off against Elgin Middlesex on Friday night in Hensall taking that match 3-0, and met up with the Cambridge Hawks Sunday in Goderich where the game ended 9-2 for the Hawks.

Dec. 3rd vs Elgin Middlesex Chiefs
After a scoreless 1st period against Elgin Middlesex Chiefs, at 10:42 of the second Maxim Mulder picked the corner off of a rebound created from some great hard work by Braeden Burdett and Reid Campbell who picked up the assists. Then with 1:47 left in the second Tanner Reid forechecking hard got the puck to Sheldon Pryce behind the net who passed out to Kyle Stanbury who made no mistake in giving the Lakers a 2-0 lead.

With the Chiefs trying hard to score, in the third with 4:34 left in the game Jake Weston would steal the puck and also pick the corner on a shot "along the ice" to give the team a 3-0 lead and another win.

Bobby McLachlan would shut the door for the shut out! Great job by the whole team!

Dec. 5th vs Cambridge Hawks
Sunday was a different story vs the Cambridge Hawks. Right out of the gate in this match the Hawks would score early and 4 more times in the 1st period to take a 5-0 lead. The Hawks' goalie was one that we were not going to score on from the blue line and had to start getting some traffic in front and ready for a rebound.

At 10:41 of the second the boys did just that! Kyle Stanbury rushing the puck and getting a shot to the net , Reid Campbell was right in position on the door step to put in the rebound. The Hawks would score 3 more in the 2nd to take an 8-1 lead into the 3rd.

Cambridge playing a more aggressive game making both Lakers goalies, Owen Hahn and Bobby McLachlan, earn their pay in this match as they both faced several quality shots. Something good to take away from this match is the boys tied the 3rd peiod 1-1. The Lakers goal again saw Tanner Reid digging the puck out of the corner then hitting Sheldon Pryce with a pass in front who took a hard shot as Kyle Stanbury was on the door step to put in the rebound.

Keep working hard boys, be as positive as you can be each night, your fans appreciate the hard work that you do and will always cheer you on no matter the outcome.

We will have a re-match with Cambridge next week.

GO LAKERS GO!
