Tough Weekend for the Minor Atoms
The Minor Atoms travelled to Waterloo on Saturday and then to Cambridge on Sunday, they were not able to get back in the win column though!

The boys were flat coming out of the gate against Waterloo giving up 3 goals in the 1st 2 minutes. Braeden Burdett scored at 7:44 to put the Lakers on the board, unnassisted, to make the game 3-1.

As the game went on the momentum shifted, the Lakers started pressing hard, but gave up another goal early in the 2nd as the Wolves took a 4-1 lead.

The Lakers gave up another goal at 11:17 of the 3rd, then the rest of the game was played mostly in Waterloo's end of the rink. Kyle Stanbury scored at 8:50 of the 3rd, unassisted, and then Sam Dupuis scored at 2:16 assisted by Tanner Reid and Kyle Stanbury. The game would end 5-3. Owen Hahn didn't get much help early in this match and closed the door in the 3rd to give his team a chance at a come back. Overall, after the first 3 minutes the boys played a great game and just needed more time.

In Cambridge the boys had a better start with end to end action in a scoreless 1st period. By the end of the 2nd the Hawks had a 2-0 lead. In the 3rd at the end of a long shift, the puck shot in by Cody Renwick, around the net and took a bounce right out front to Kyle Stanbury who scored to make the game 2-1. Then the tired legs showed in the 3rd as Cambridge would out shoot and score 3 more to win the game 5-1. Bobby McLachlan did his job in net, and the rest of the team did well when they were given the chance.

The boys will now gear up for the Vic Teal International Tournament in St. Catherines over the Holidays. Merry Christmas to all and have a fun safe holiday!!
