Minor Atoms Split Weekend Games
On Saturday the Minor Atoms travelled to Kitchener to play the Rangers and then met Waterloo on Sunday in Goderich.

Overall the kids played a solid game not giving up too many shots and playing most of the game from the neutral zone into the Rangers' end. At 7:50 of the 1st, Sheldon Pryce, forechecking strong, knocks the puck free from the Ranger player and Tanner Reid was able to get a shot away that found the back of the net giving the Lakers a 1-0 lead.

In the 2nd at 5:53 the Rangers tied the game at 1. Not for long though, at 5:31, Braeden Burdett scored on a nice passing play from Joseph Serpa and Sam Dupuis.

The score would remain 2-1 into the 3rd and with the net empty and the Rangers desperately trying to tie the match, Kyle Stanbury would put 1 in the open cage assisted by Joseph Serpa to end the game 3-1.

Great game played by all! Bobby McLachlan held down the fort in net for this one.

Sunday's match was a little different with the boys not skating nearly as hard as they did on Saturday. The Waterloo Wolves wanted the puck more than we did as it showed both on the scoreboard and with Owen Hahn in net being very busy facing many shots as well as stopping many rebounds. The Wolves took a 2-0 lead after 1  and then a 3-0 lead after 2. The lone goal scorer for the Lakers was Carter McLlwain who stripped the puck from the Wolves' defence and went in alone scoring on a nice wrist shot over the glove of the Wolves' goalie. Waterloo would add 2 more in the third as this game would end 5-1.

Boys, you better turn on the jets this weekend. This coming weekend the boys are busy with a 3 game slate. Friday night in Hensall at 7:30 vs the Lambton Sting. Then, a trip to Hamilton on Saturday at 1:00 and back to Goderich on Sunday at 2:30 to face the league leading London Jr. Knights.

Go Lakers Go!!
