Minor Atoms Bring Home the Bronze Championship from Rochester, NY
What a weekend - with 6 games of hockey, mini sticks at the hotel, and more social bonding for the team and parents. After round robin play, the Lakers were seeded in the bronze division, and took the championship!

The goalies, Bobby McLachlan and Owen Hahn, would share the first few games, each doing their best.

Round robin play against the Halton Hurricanes was the 1st match, Halton would win this one 6-2. Goal scorers for the Lakers were Carter McLlwain, assisted by Reid Campbell  & Cody Renwick, and Kyle Stanbury, unassisted.

Game 2 vs Ashburn Extreme would see the Lakers control this match with a 7-2 victory. Goal scorers were Cody Renwick from Reid Campbell. Braeden Burdett, assisted by Sheldon Pryce. Braeden Burdett had his 2nd goal assisted by Kyle Stanbury. Braeden Burdett completed the hatrick with an unassisted goal. Braeden would get his fourth of the game assisted by Joshua Zelek and Sheldon Pryce. Sheldon would then score one assisted by Joshua Zelek & Jake Weston. Cody Renwick finished up the scoring with his 2nd of the game, assisted by Braeden Burdett.

Game 3 wouldn't turn out so good as the Lakers suffered a 5-1 loss to Amherst with the lone Laker goal scored by Carter McLlwain, assisted by Sam Dupuis.

The Lakers would end up in the bronze group where they would then play the Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles. The Lakers would take this match 4-2 with goals going to Carter McLlwain , Braeden Burdett, Joshua Zelek and Kyle Stanbury, all unassisted. Owen Hahn stood strong in net, stopped a penalty shot, took a P break and then closed the door.

That would put us in the semi-final against Minutemen PA. This game would need overtime and then a shoot out to decide the winner. Braeden Burdett scored 1st, unassisted. PA answered back with 2 goals. Kyle Stanbury tied the game at 2, assisted by Jake Weston & Maxim Mulder. PA went ahead 4-2 in the 2nd but then Sheldon Pryce scored assisted by Tanner Reid and Shawn Barnett to try to close the gap. PA would regain the 2 goal lead early in the third. Then Kyle Stanbury scored, assisted by Joshua Zelek, followed by Cody Renwick tying the game at 5, assisted by Braeden Burdett & Kyle Stanbury. PA would score again but then, with just 52 seconds left in the period, Carter McLlwain tied the game assisted by Kyle Stanbury. This sent the game to overtime where nothing was decided. Off to the shoot-out we go, and Kyle Stanbury scored 1st. PA would score to tie. Braeden Burdett scored. Owen Hahn shut the door on the next shooter giving Maxim Mulder a chance to score for the win and he would do just that. Great job, and with the win the Lakers advanced to the bronze championship game.

This game would be against the home town Rochester team and would see the Lakers take the match with a 6-1 win. Goal scorers were Carter McLlwain, assisted by Braeden Burdett. Carter McLlwain for his 2nd, assisted by Sheldon Pryce & Braeden Burdett. Maxim Mulder scored next, assisted by Joshua Zelek & Shawn Barnett. Carter McLlwain would get the hatrick, assisted by Kyle Stanbury. Cody Renwick & Sam Dupuis would each score unassisted goals. Bobby McLachlan held down the fort between the pipes in this match. The convincing 6-1 victory meant the team brought home the Bronze hardware.
