Major Peewees Take 4 Points Convincingly
vs Hamilton Reps
The Lakers would not be intimidated by a bigger Reps squad and would use quick puck movement and speed to cruise to a convincing 8-2 win on Saturday.

Playing in their first game with 3 different line combinations didn’t seem to hamper their effort either as new chemistry was found quickly. This was the first time this season that the PeeWee squad actually played with a complete line up. The new line of Chayse Herrfort, Jarrett Bogdon and Jon Baker seemed to find early success finding the net for 5 goals via some pretty puck movement. Jared Nash also earned a hat trick in the game. The Lakersdefense put in a strong effort with many assists starting from defensive zone breakout passes. Shots were 36-16 in favour of the Lakers.

vs Elgin Middlesex Chiefs

The Lakers travelled to Strathroy to do battle with the West division leaders on Sunday. The game was fast paced and exciting from start to finish. The Lakers would be assessed a minor penalty just 2 minutes into the game and Elgin would capitalize quickly to go up 1-0. From then however, the Lakers would carry the majority of the play winning most of the one on one battles and score the next 4 goals at even strength to take a commanding 4-1 lead. Midway through the 3rd period Elgin would score on a perimeter shot from the point to draw within 2 goals. The next few minutes would witness fairly scrambled play as the Lakers seemed to sit back a little and stray from their game plan. In the closing minutes however the Lakers would settle down and control the neutral zone eventually solidifying the win with an empty net goal. The newly formed line of Jared Nash, Josh Britton and Brent West would find some chemistry putting 4 goals behind the Chiefs goaltender. Shots were 22-17 in favour of the Lakers.

The Major PeeWees have now put together 5 back to back league wins and seem to be ‘buying in’ to the team strategies being stressed during practices. Confident play from all players is becoming increasingly evident. They now play a 3 game set next weekend hosting the Chiefs in Hensall on Friday night, then travel to Hamilton on Saturday and finish up in Waterloo on Sunday.
