HPL “97” Minor Bantams Clinch 1st Place in the East
This is the 1st time that the “97” Laker age group has finished in 1st place in the East Division of the Alliance.

The HPL Minor Bantams started their year off with a bang winning the Early Bird Tournament in Niagara Falls, but once regular season play started they seemed to be slow out of the gate with only 1 win in their first 8 games. Some short term goals had to be set and accomplished before looking down the road at long term goals. The team plays with the attitude of “if we don’t get scored on we won’t lose”. The culture of “defence first” is a must with every player on the team and there is no “I in team”. When you look at the game sheet there has been very few goals scored for the Lakers that there isn’t two assists awarded (and maybe could be more if there was room). The last 17 games the HPL Minor Bantams have been on a mission, losing only 2 of their last 17 games, going from 2nd last place to clinching 1st.

The Lakers face the Chatham-Kent Cyclones in the 1st round of play-offs. Check the Lakers website for game times and locations.
