Lakers play the Rangers
The Minor Atoms played the Kitchener Rangers on Sunday with their last regular season game of the year.

The Lakers continued their impressive streak since December 18th (11-6-1) with finally a win on Goderich ice, a 3-0 victory over rival Kitchener.

After a very sluggish 1st period the Lakers found their legs as Zac McCann was sprung in all alone with a beauty pass from Tyler Hotson that allowed McCann to go bar down early in the 2nd.

In a game that saw the neutral zone get clogged up time and again Kayden Schooley broke through starting from in front of the Lakers net and speeding up the right side, as he crossed the blue line firing off a laser top shelf to cap off the solo effort.  Later in the 3rd, newly converted left winger Braeden McNaughton broke down the off wing and saucered out a great pass through traffic right on the tape of Hotson who made no mistake and banged it in with authority.

Some extremely hard work by the line of Mason Weber, Alex Crowley and Hotson tied up the Rangers in their own zone for 1:15 resulting in a couple scoring chances but frustrating the Rangers for the entire shift late in the 3rd.

The shut out was preserved late in the game by a great solo effort by Connor Aarts as he single handedly held off the last 15 second attack in the defensive zone to give Kints his second shutout of the year.

The Lakers now take on the Kitchener Rangers in a best 3 of 5 series to begin the Alliance Playoffs in Wingham on Saturday.
