2000 Lakers Continue Winning Streak!
The Minor Peewee Lakers continue to battle for the puck and have come out on top in their last 5 regular season games.
December 10, 2011:  Lakers vs. London Jr. Knights:   2-1
December 11, 2011:  Lakers vs. Hamilton Reps:  4-1
December 17, 2011:  Lakers vs. Lambton Jr. Sting: 5-1
December 18, 2011:  Lakers vs. Windsor Jr. Spitfires:  4-2
December 20, 2011:  Lakers vs. Cambridge:  3-1

December 10, 2011:  Lakers vs. London Jr. Knights

The Lakers found themselves down 1-0 against the Knights until the last 5 minutes in the game when the Lakers were able to capitalize on a power play to tie the game.  With continued determination not to lose again to the Knights the Lakers fought hard and were able to bounce the puck up along the boards, burying the puck with 3 minutes left in the game to secure the win 2-1.

December 11, 2011:  Lakers vs. Hamilton Reps

The Lakers came out strong against the Hamilton Reps, pulling ahead 3-0 by the end of the second period.  The Reps struggled to keep up to the Lakers, as the Reps played a great deal of the game short handed.  The Reps were able to slide one past the Lakers Netminder late in the third period.  This would be the only goal of the game for the Reps.  The Lakers answered back with 1 minute left in the game to secure the win 4-1.

December 17, 2011:  Lakers vs. Lambton Jr. Sting

On Saturday, December 17, 2011 the Lakers traveled to Sarnia to face the Jr. Sting.  The Lakers controlled much of the game scoring 2 goals in the first period, 2 goals in the second period and their fifth goal in the third.  The Lakers defense and the strong back-checking of the forwards kept the Sting at bay.  The Sting would only score one sole goal in the game.

December 18, 2011:  Lakers vs. Windsor Jr. Spitfires

With the hometown fans in the stands, the Lakers would provide nothing less than an exhilarating game of hockey.  The Jr. Spitfires surprised the Lakers by lighting up the scoreboard early in the third period.  This goal ignited the Lakers energy seeing the puck down in the Spitfires end for most of the game.  Despite the puck being bounced off the cross-bar, posts and great saves by the Spitfires Netminder, the Lakers took the time to set up the play and use their patience and movement of the puck from behind the net that gave the Spitfires little opportunity to respond when the Lakers were able to tie the game.  The game would remain at one-a-piece for the rest of the first period.  The Lakers took an early lead in the second period, which was answered back minutes later by the Spitfire.  Again early in the third the Lakers rushed the puck up the ice and sniped a rocket past the Spitfires to take the lead.  With an empty net the Lakers secured the win with 56 seconds on the clock, 4-2 Lakers.

December 20, 2011:  Lakers vs. Cambridge Hawks

After being robbed of the win twice in the Kitchener Blueline Tournament of the win, the Lakers were ready to engage in a very physical and aggressive game of hockey with the Hawks.  At the end of the first period, the game remained scoreless.  The Hawks would score what ended to be their only goal of the game late in the second period.  With the Hawks now ahead 1-0 and only 15 minutes of play, the Lakers had to pull out all stops and skate harder and faster than the Hawks if they wanted the win.  Early in the third the Lakers would take advantage of the power play to tie the game.  The puck continued to go end to end and off the posts of both the Hawks and Lakers nets.  With 2:15 left in the game the Lakers would take the lead.  With an empty Hawks net, the Lakers would secure the win with 12 seconds remaining on the clock.  Despite the aggressiveness and poor sportsmanship of the Hawks, the Lakers continued to show poise and class both on and off the ice.  Congratulations Lakers on a fabulous win!

A special thank you to all the AP players who have assisted over the last few weeks, as some Lakers have been out due to injury and illness.  We wish all these players a speedy recovery!

The Lakers will take a short break to enjoy family, friends and festivities over the next couple of days.  The 2000 Lakers will now prepare to travel to Niagara Falls for the Rivermen Festival of Lights tournament before they return to school.

Wishing all the Lakers and their families a safe, happy and healthy holiday!  2012 is the year to shine for the 2000 Lakers!
