Finding ways to win on the road
The Huron Perth Lakers Major Bantams travelled to Galt on Sunday 06 Nov 11 to play the Cambridge Hawks edging the Hawks 4 – 3 in Pavilion league east division action.

Lakers got on the scoreboard first with a goal by Carson Brookshaw, assisted by Blake Nichol and Kenny Huether, however the Hawks would reply in short order with two goals to close out the 1st up 2 – 1.

In the 2nd the Major Bantams got back to business with a goal an assist by Kenny Huether, as well as a goal by Cullen Mercer assisted by Blake Nichol to end the 2nd period up 3 -2

The Hawks would not give in and came back to tie the score at 3 – 3 with 4 mins left in the 3rd. In a true nail biter, Kenny Huether got the go ahead and winning goal, unassisted, in the final seconds of the 3rd to give the Lakers the win.

The Lakers were in London on Sunday, 13 Nov 11 to face off against the London Jr Knights Green team and came away with a solid 6 – 1 win. Despite a steady parade to the penalty box by both teams the Lakers were led by two goals apiece by Jamie Huber and Ted Nichol, assisted by Matt McGall, Kenny Huether, Cullen Mercer and Robbie Stovel.

Carson Brookshaw and Maverick Petrie would each add a single, assisted by Blake Nichol, Nathan Smith, Jamie Huber and Zach Jacobs to round out the scoring.

The Major Bantams visited the Brantford 99’ers on Thursday, 17 Nov 11 in a gritty game which saw the Lakers’ take a number of penalties and force a more disciplined approach if the Lakers were to make it out of Branford with a win.

As both teams failed capitalize on the power play opportunities it was up to Blake Nichol to get the lone goal late in the 3rd, assisted by Trent Dundas to preserve the win at 1 – 0 for the Lakers.
