Lakers win second in a row over Elgin Middlesex Chiefs
The Huron Perth Lakers Major Bantams continued to find ways to get under the skin of the Chiefs in a convincing game three win on Tuesday, 21 Feb 12 in Komoka, Ont. The win ensured a 5 games series to decide which team would advance to the Alliance Finals.

The Lakers were lead by Cullen Mercer with two goals and by goalie Ben “Larceny” Larder, who continued his one man crime wave, robbing the Chiefs at virtually every opportunity.

Zach Jacobs got the Lakers on the board mid way thru the 1st on a great point shot, assisted by Ted Nichol. The Lakers continued to lay the body on, however the Chiefs would respond on a turnover with 30s left in the 1st to tie the game at 1 – 1.

In the 2nd period , Jamie Huber would score assisted by Trent Dundas and Blake Nichol to restore the Lakers lead, 2- 1 at the 8 min mark. Frustrations on both sides started to take there toll as a steady parade of players made their way to the box. The Chiefs would get their 2nd and final goal of the game on the power play with 1 min left in the 2nd to end the period at 2- 2.

The 3rd period was all Lakers as Cullen Mercer scored two goals, assisted by Jamie Huber and Zack Jacobs to give the Lakers a solid lead, 4 -2 with 9 mins left in the 3rd. Nathan Smith capped off the scoring with an empty net goal which deflected off the boards at the Lakers blueline, travelling all the way down the ice to cross the goaline as the hapless Chiefs watched in dismay, to make the final 5 – 2 for the Huron Perth Lakers Major Bantams.
