Minor Midgets Unbeaten Streak Ends at 14 Games
The Minor Midgets unbeaten streak came to an end on December 6th in Brantford when the 99er’s handed the Lakers a 4 – 0 loss. After coming off a high of beating London Gold two days earlier, the Lakers came up flat against Brantford. With 7 games to play in the regular season, the Lakers find themselves in first place in the Alliance East Division, one point up on the Cambridge Hawks.

Brantford got on the score board in the first period with a one timer from the slot on a pass from behind the net. The score remained that way until the third period when Brantford took a 2 – 0 lead on a 5 on 3 power play. Daniel Dekoning made the first save on a shot from the point but a Brantford player was there to bang in the rebound. With just over 3 minutes left in the game, the Lakers pulled their goalie and were applying some huge pressure. The Brantford goalie made a great save when Jacob Middleton walked in from the point and blasted a slap shot that the goalie snared with his glove hand. Brantford scored an empty net goal and added a 4th goal in the last minute with Dekoning back between the pipes.

The Lakers were outshot 25 – 24 in this contest with full marks going to the Brantford 99er’s for taking it to the Lakers. With their first loss in 15 games, the Lakers are hoping to get back in the win column with their next league game on December 15th against the London Jr. Knights Green team at the Dufferin Lions Arena in Stratford.
