Major Atoms open season with loss to Chatham-Kent Cyclones
After a couple wins during preseason play the 02 Laker team opened the season Sunday against a big team from Chatham-Kent.  The Lakers came out flat, but solid goaltending kept the game tied up at 1-1 after the first period.  The boys came out with a better effort in the second frame as both teams traded scoring opportunities keeping the score close until a last minute power play goal by the Cyclones put them ahead 4-2.  Continued penalty troubles kept the team from mounting a comeback as the strong Cyclone team took advantage of their opportunities and never looked back.

Of note was the strong play of Coultes on the back end, who also added an assist to one of Hoggarth’s 2 goals. Teale and Pryce also added helpers. The Lakers look towards getting back on track next week as they travel to Kitchener to face the Rangers.
