Written by Jeff Aarts

Last Saturday the Atom Lakers traveled to Kitchener to take on the Jr. Rangers. The Lakers got the first goal on an unassistd  shot by Blake Wideman. The Lakers would dominate the game with puck possession but struggled to find the net.  Later in the game with the score tied 1-1, Kaden Hoggarth would notch a go ahead goal to make it 2-1. Assist by Dakota Coultes. Unfortunately the Lakers continued to struggle to find the net and get a security goal.  Kitchener with the goalie pulled would slip on past on a deflection with 10 seconds left in the game to spoil the Lakers victory.  Final score 2-2.

On Sunday, the Major Atoms would host the Jr. Rangers at the Maitland center in Goderich.  The Lakers would open the scoring mid way thru the first as a rush D-Man Jack Robinson would lead to a beautiful pass out front to a wide open Bobby Leis for a marker.  The celebration would be short lived however as 30 seconds later Kitchener would tie things up.  The Rangers would score again a few minutes later to end the first period and would add to their lead early in the second.  With Kitchener ahead 3-1 Tyler Hotson would jam in a rebound on a shot from Connor Aarts.  In the beginning of the 3rd period Kaden Hoggarth would even things up with a back-handed bullet. (assist from Bobby Leis).  Braedan McNaughton would notch the go ahead goal less than 2 minutes later to make the score 4-3.   Kayden Schooley would pounce on a rebound for the insurance goal with 2:30 left in the game (from Mason Weber) and later add an empty net goal to finish the scoring 6-3.
