Huron Perth Lakers Minor Peewees Build Upon First Place Lead
The Huron Perth Minor Peewees took 3 out 4 points this weekend and solidified their lead in the East Division to 7 points over the 2nd place challenger.  So far this year, the minor peewees have a record of 7-1-4 in regular season action.  On Saturday Nov. 3, 12 in Brantford, the Lakers salvaged a 3-3 tie with the Brantford 99ers after letting a 3-1 lead disappear.  On Sunday Nov. 4, 12 in Sarnia, the Lakers manhandled the Lambton Sting 4-1.

In Brantford, the Lakers jumped into a 2-0 lead, both goals coming off of the stick of Eric Vander Eyk.  The first one was assisted by Tyson Hall and the second one was assisted by Reid Campbell and Carter McLlwain.  The 99ers got one back early in the 2nd before Joshua Zelek potted one to help the Lakers widen the lead to 3-1 (assists going to McLlwain and Luke Venhuizen).  The 99ers netted one before the end of the 2nd and tied the game late in the 3rd on a powerplay.

In Sarnia, after a scoreless first period, Sam Dupuis opened the scoring after being set up by Hall.  The Sting tied it midway in the 2nd but shortly after, Zelek put the Lakers in the lead for good after taking a feed from McLlwain.  Dupuis banged in a rebound on a powerplay early in the third (assists going to Kyle Stanbury and McLlwain).  McLlwain redirected a Zelek slap pass to complete the scoring (with Venhuizen also picking up an assist).  The Lakers dominated the game, outshooting the Sting by more than a 2 to 1 margin.

The Lakers now have a week off before heading off to Peterborough in a couple of weeks to compete in a tournament.
