Minor PeeWee Lakers Advance to Semis
The Huron Perth Minor PeeWee Lakers defeated the Waterloo Wolves in the Play Down Quarter Finals to advance to the Semi finals against the London Knights.  The Lakers won the series 3 games to 1 with 1 game ending in a tie.

The Lakers defeated the Wolves in the 1st game 5-1 with goals coming from Eric Vander Eyk, Braeden Burdett and a hat trick from Kyle Stanbury.  The second game ended in a 2-2 tie with goals coming from Stanbury and Reid Campbell.  The Lakers shutout the Wolves in game 3 3-0 with goals coming from Campbell and a pair from Carter McLlwain.  Zach Hall got the shutout.  The Wolves came back to take game 4 4-2, with both Laker goals coming from Joshua Zelek.  The Lakers clinched the series win in game 5 with a thrilling 5-4 victory in overtime.  Vander Eyk scored a pair of goals with singles coming from Campbell, Stanbury and the overtime winner from Burdett.  Assists in the series were awarded to Matthew Schwindt, Jake Weston, Zelek, McLlwain, Burdett, Maxim Mulder, Stanbury, Vander Eyk, Joel Denotter, Tyson Hall and Shawn Barnett.  Goalies Owen Hahn and Zach Hall both had a strong series.

 

The Lakers look forward in building upon their momentum when they deal with the Knights.  The semi finals begin this thursday in London.  Go Lakers!
