The Major Bantams enjoyed an exciting and successful weekend at the Niagara Falls Early Bird Tournament capturing the championship!

The first day of tournament play on Friday, September 7, had the Lakers playing Rochester and Kitchener.  The Lakers came out strong against Rochester winning 3 - 0 and finished with a tie game versus the Jr. Rangers with one goal each.

Saturday, the Major Bantams remained undefeated winning against both the Markham Waxers and the Hamburg Hawks with scores of 3 to 1 and 4 to 3.  The Lakers finished first in their pool sending them to the semi finals on Sunday versus the Central Ontario Wolves.

After three periods of non stop action versus the Wolves, the score remained tied at 1.  During the five minute, 4 on 4 overtime, the score was still at 1 - 1.  Each team scored once during the shoot out and finally during the eighth round of shooters, the Lakers scored again to finish the game, winning 3 to 2.

2 pm Sunday was the championship match versus the Sun County Panthers.  Each team played with determination, but the Lakers found the back of the net during period two, giving them the lead. The Lakers were able to hold off the Panthers and the game ended with a score of 1 - 0 in favour of Huron-Perth.
