Friday's game again the Kitchener Jr Rangers was a hard fought battle that saw end to end action and some great defensive work. Tate Gaylor stood strong at the Rangers blue line getting the puck to Zac McCann who passed to Kayden Schooley in the slot who would score to give the Lakers a 1 – 0 lead.
Kitchener would battle back and score to tie the match at 1. Near the end of 2nd period Connor Aarts would strip the puck from the Rangers in the neutral zone and with a couple nice moves to gain the Rangers blue line and snipe a wrist shot to score to regain the lead 2 – 1. However in the 3rd the Rangers would tie the game at 2, and with chances at both ends, Hardy Westman would salvage the tie and a much needed point for the Lakers.
Off to Hamilton Saturday where the boys were in tough against the Huskies who are known to play a physical game. Even though the Lakers would play several minutes of each period in the Huskies end they could not buy a goal until the 3rd. Gaylor kept the puck in at the Huskies blue line and Zac McCann taking it around the corner and finding Tyler Hotson in front who picked the corner, putting the Lakers on the board. The boys would try to muster a comeback but the Huskies would grab an empty netter to take the game 4 -1 . Dylan Kints was kept very busy in net making some nice saves, but the team just couldn’t fight back .
The Huskies will come to Laker land this Friday for a rematch and I’m sure the outcome will be better for the boys!!
