Minor Peewees go .500 in December
Written by Ron Pryce

The boys travelled to Preston to face off against the Cambridge Hawks, a team that the Lakers are trying to catch in the league standings. The Lakers fell behind in this match 3–0 and just could not catch the Hawks losing this one 6–3.

The following day The Waterloo Wolves came to town where the Lakers needed to rebound and find a way to win. They did just that pulling off a 7 – 6 win. By the end of the 1st period the Lakers had a 4 – 1 lead on goals from Eric Roes assisted by Blake Boreham.  Blake Wideman scored the 2nd assisted by Kaden Hoggarth.   Sheldon Pryce recorded goal #3 unassisted and the 4th was scored by Tyler Hotson  from  Pryce and Tate Gaylor. The Lakers would add 2 more goals in the 2nd from  Blake Wideman assisted by Zac McCann and Hoggarth.  Kayden Schooley would score the next goal assisted by Hotson and Connor Aarts.  The Wolves were not about to give up as they would score  4 goals in the 3rd period  to make it an exciting finish as the Lakers would  get 1 more goal by Pryce assisted by Schooley to take the win.   Dylan Kints  had a great game between the pipes  and the defence were very strong on the blue line, good job and great “team” win!

The Last game before Christmas against the Sarnia Sting  would be another huge 2 points for the boys . Callan Ferguson would score 1st for the Lakers with a blast from the point  after a nice D to D pass from Gaylor.  Eric Roes would score the 2nd goal on a nice rush unassisted .  Then Boreham  would put home the 3rd goal on a feed out front by Pryce and Eric Roes grabbing an assist.  The boys would hang on to win this match 3 – 1  as Hardy Westman  did a nice job in net holding the Sting to just 1 goal !  Another nice “team “ effort !! Over the holidays the Lakers would travel to Komoka to face off against the Chiefs . The outcome in this match however would not favor the Lakers .  The Chiefs would jump out to a 3 – 0 lead before the Lakers would score midway through the 2nd period on a goal by Pryce unassisted.  The boys were maybe still working off the Christmas turkey as they could not keep up to the Chiefs in this match. Roes would score 1 more for the Lakers assisted by Pryce and Ferguson , but the Chiefs would add 2 more to take this game 5 – 2.

With 9 games remaining in league play, 6 of these are on the road!! Good Luck Lakers in 2014!!!! Happy New Year !!!
