The Stratford Cullitons released forward
Maverick Petrie to the Lakers on Monday night following practice.
Director of hockey operations Jason Lott said that the team asked Petrie to join the Lakers and be an affiliate player for the Cullitons. But a last minute deal offered by St Marys Lincolns temporarily saw the Power Forward being dealt there. However, the Lakers staff was advised this morning the deal did not go through and Petrie would in fact be joining the Midget team effective immediately.
Petrie will be a welcome addition to the Lakers. With his physical approach, his tenacity in the corners as a power forward and overall work ethic, he will definitely have an immediate impact.
The Lakers also acquired Josh Bickell from the Tavistock Braves Jr C team. Josh is a defensive Forward with an offensive upside. Bickell, from Stratford, will be looked upon rather quickly to step in and lead by example.
The new additions will be in the lineup this Saturday when the Lakers host Kitchener in St Marys. Game time is 3:30pm.
