Minor Atom Lakers take 2 of 3 on weekend
The Minor Atom Lakers hosted Kitchener on Friday in Stratford to kick off a busy weekend.  Kitchener played a very hard and skilled game and the Lakers were able to fend off some early chances to end the second locked at 0-0.  Early in the third the Lakers were able to squeeze one by the Kitchener netminder and with the Lakers in penalty trouble late in the third, the penalty killing unit were able to hold the fort for a 1-0 win.  The next day the Lakers traveled to

Komoka to take on the Middlesex Chiefs in an afternoon game.  The Lakers came out strong and carried a 2-0 lead into the third.  With a bit of a let down in the third, the Chiefs started to chip away at the lead but the Lakers replied and carried a 4-2 lead at the midway point of the third.  With three minutes remaining the Chiefs scored again closing the gap to one, but the Lakers held on to win their second game of the weekend 4-3.  Sunday the Lakers hosted London looking to sweep the weekend and remain undefeated in regular season play.  The game did not start out well as the Lakers dug themselves a hole as the first period ended 2-0 for London.  The rest of the game did not go much better, as the Lakers could not find anything that worked and were handed a 4-1 loss.  The Sunday loss dropped the Lakers to a 5 and 1 record in the regular season and sit second in the East division, 4 points behind Kitchener.  The Minor Atoms travel to Hamilton on Saturday and host Windsor Sunday in Goderich at 11am.
