Tie Vs. Waterloo puts Minor Atom Lakers into Second Place
This past Saturday the Minor Atom Lakers hosted the Waterloo Wolves.

The Lakers took an early lead when Coward found Fraser breaking up the left side who then slid a beauty pass to Harmer who broke in and fired a shot five hole for a 1-0 lead.

The Lakers took a two goal lead in the second when Fraser battled for position in front of the net and fired the puck in. Assists on the Fraser goal went to Hodge and Harmer. Waterloo got a goal late in the second cutting the Lakers lead to 2-1 heading to the third.

In the third the Lakers scored to take a 3-1 lead when Harmer finished off a great individual effort on the backhand. However the Wolves stormed back with two quick goals of their own to tie the game at three. With just a few minutes remaining the Lakers won an offensive zone face off and the puck was moved back to Hodge at the point who fired a hard shot that found its way through the crowd into the back of the net for a 4-3 lead. Assists on the goal went to Fraser and Jewitt.

Cue Boersma!!! Waterloo did not quit and won every battle in the Lakers zone however Boersma made some timely and highlight reel saves to keep the Lakers in the lead. After a timeout and the Waterloo net empty the Wolves continued to pressure and after another Boersma save banged in a rebound with seven seconds left to salvage a 4-4 tie. However with the single point the Lakers are now tied for second place in the East division with the Kitchener Rangers.

This weekend the Lakers have a break from league play and travel to Michigan to participate in the Nations Cup.   Good Luck Lakers!!!
