It was a busy weekend for the Minor Bantam team as they played in Boston Pizza Ice Fest Tournament held in Peterborough.
Game 1 was held Thursday Oct 17th vs the Eastern Ontario Wild. The Lakers team only came out with a single point that game, having lost 3-2 in overtime.
Friday Oct 18th saw the Lakers with 2 games.
Game 2 was a tough 2-1 loss to the Guelph Gryphons.
Game 3 the Lakers dug in and came out with 5-2 win over the Ajax-Pickering Raiders.
Saturday morning started with a loss to a tough Don Mills Flyers team with a score of 2-1.
The Lakers were off to slow start in the tournament as they gauged the rest of the teams, but they found their rhythm when they needed to.
The quarter final game was an exciting game with many opportunities for both teams. In the end, the Lakers came out on top with an overtime win of 3-2.
Sunday morning brought the Semi-finals, giving the Lakers another shot at the Eastern Ontario Wild. The Lakers tamed the Wild and finished with 2-0 final win.
Off to the finals we go!! The Lakers had the momentum going in to the finals as they met with the Ajax-Pickering Raiders again. The Lakers took that momentum all the way to the final buzzer with final winning score of 5-0.
In the 7 games over 4 days, the Lakers scored 18, allowed 11 and had 2 shut out in the playoff games. Well done team!!
