Organization - Todd Goetz Memorial Award
Submitted By Jill tenHag on Saturday, January 9, 2021
It is with sadness we announce the passing of Todd Goetz after a long hard battle with cancer.  We have created a memorial award in his honor at Central Huron Secondary School.  Todd spent much of his life in Clinton and his boys attended CHSS.  Todd’s hardwork and perseverance had a big impact on youth in our community and we would like to inspire youth to display the characteristics he did.

Todd Goetz is remembered as a family man who was extremely kind and generous.  His work ethic was outstanding.  He continued to work while undergoing cancer treatment despite the pain he was in.  He was a true advocate of sportsmanship and hard work.  He spent countless hours coaching hockey and basketball.  Todd recognized a need for a basketball program for elementary students in Clinton and created the Monday night basketball league.  He even created a basketball net that was the correct height for the kids.  Todd also volunteered his time as president of the Huron Perth Lakers.  Todd was the guy always leading in the background but not wanting to take credit for all of his hard work.  His dedication to kids and sports has impacted many athletes in our community.  His work ethic and perseverance allowed him to have a great impact on the entire community.

This award will be presented annually to a graduating student who best exemplifies Todd’s characteristics. This award will be presented to a deserving graduate who is extremely hard working and whose work ethic sets them apart from their peers. This student should also demonstrate athleticism, sportsmanship and the leadership qualities Todd valued.  They are always helping others behind the scenes without wanting to take credit. The recipient of this award has made a positive impact on the CHSS community without expecting anything in return. The student can be going into the trades, to college or university.

If you would like to donate to this award in memory of Todd and encourage future grads to have the same impact as Todd donations can be made in the following way;

Donations can be made by cheque made payable to the "Avon Maitland District School Board" and mailed to:
