When it comes to the
Toronto Marlboros, their stats speak for them. It’s an outstanding on-ice record. However, more importantly they are proud of the compliments received regarding their “off-ice” behaviour and overall team program.
With an amazing 70-3-3 Overall record, the Marlies also have numerous tournament accomplishments including,
Gold Medalist – Senators Cup
Gold Medalist – GTHL Bauer Challenge Cup
Silver Medalist – Port Huron Silverstick Tournament
Gold Medalist – Ontario Winter Games
First Place - Regular Season League Champions - GTHL Kraft Cup
GOLD MEDALIST - PLAYOFF League Champions – GTHL League Champions
Toronto Star’s Team of the Week (Three Times)
After accompanying the team to the Ontario Winter Games, John Gardiner, President of the GTHL, sent a congratulatory note stating: “I just wanted to tell you it was a pleasure to be the League representative for this team and to have them represent the GTHL. The Toronto Marlboros have every reason to be extremely proud of the manner in which this team not only represented the Marlboros, but their parents and this League.”
This team truly represents what the Toronto Marlboros organization is all about: - Play for the love of the game, be generous in winning, be graceful in losing, be fair and display sportsmanship, be obedient to the rules, work for the good of the team, conduct yourself with honour and dignity, learn every time you step on the ice.
Some notable players graduating from the Marlies organization:
John Tavares New York Islanders
Sam Gagner Edmonton Oilers
Rick Nash Columbus Blue Jackets
Jason Spezza Ottawa Senators
Wojtek Wolski Phoenix Coyotes
**An interesting side note- Current Marlies player, Dylan Strome is literally following in the steps of his older Brother Ryan. Ryan Strome, as a member of the Marlies, competed in the All-Ontario Bantam 'AAA' Championship in 2008 which was the very 1st event hosted by the Huron Perth Lakers.
