6 Point Weekend for Major Midgets
Submitted By Chad Smalley on Tuesday, September 29, 2009
Huron-Perth Lakers Major Midgets End Weekend with 6 Points!

Victory Sunday afternoon against the Lambton Jr. Sting capped a 6 point weekend for the Lakers Major Midgets.

The Sting team posed no real threat to a determined Lakers team. Bryan McCauley opened the scoring near the end of the first period with assists going to Jordan Currie and Mitchell McIntosh.

Early in the second period, while on the power play, Dylan Williams and Jordan Currie set up Mitchell McIntosh for a top shelf "bar down" goal. After a few minutes of play, the Sting would register their one and only goal of the contest. Mitchell McIntosh scored his second goal of the game on a rebound in front of the Sting's goaltender. Assists went to Jordan Currie and Mitchell Berzins. Ryan Field made the game 4-1 on a backhand shot from the right hand hash marks.

In the third period the Lakers put the game out of reach for the Sting on a two goal effort by Mitchell Berzins and one by David Dalby. Jordan Currie, Brian McCauley, Kurtis Lavis and Ryan Field registered assists on the remaining three goals.

The shots at the final buzzer were 36-15 in favour of the Lakers with the score ending up 7-1. Next action for the Major Midgets is Wednesday night in London against the London Jr. Knights with weekend action in Stratford at the Alliance Showcase Tournament October 2-4 at the Stratford Rotary Complex.
