Where a player or team official is penalized under these sanctions in a Regional series or tournament, and then is subsequently penalized at the National tournament, then additional sanctions may be imposed by the Hockey Canada Vice-Chairman or the Hockey Canada Representative.  It is to be understood that all suspensions come into effect immediately.  The filing of a grievance or an appeal does not delay the serving of a suspension.

For the two teams in the Hockey Quebec Midget “AAA” championship series, it is deemed that they are in a Regional event that precedes the TELUS Cup National Midget Championship.

The Tournament Directorate, which is chaired by the Hockey Canada Representative, should convene as soon as possible to respond to indefinite suspensions.

The Tournament Directorate shall be convened to respond to an official team request that concerns an improper application of a playing rule.  It is to be understood that a hearing will not be convened by the Tournament Directorate to discuss a referee’s judgement call (i.e. If the call is a Match penalty for Spearing, then the 3 game suspension shall apply).

With the exception of decisions made in response to “Indefinite Suspensions”, all discipline decisions made by the Tournament Directorate and/or Hockey Canada Representative shall be the final Hockey Canada decision.  Tournament Directorate decisions that are made in response to an indefinite suspension may be appealed to the Chairperson of Hockey Canada.  It is to be understood that the time required for the Chairperson to respond might exceed the tournament or series.

Any incident requiring the aforementioned disciplinary actions are to be reported on the back of the Game Sheet by the referee.  All such game sheets are to be faxed the next day to the Hockey Canada Calgary office (attention Manager, Officiating) by the Hockey Canada Representative at the game.  Any incidents involving Officials or Deliberate Injury are to be reported verbally to Todd Anderson at the Hockey Canada Calgary office (403) 777 – 4587. With all reports an e-mail should be sent to Todd Anderson at [email protected] as soon as possible after the game in question with full details of the situation and all contact numbers for the official and event (See Action Bulletin a0532- reference to verbal reports).  The Calgary office fax number is (403) 777 - 3635.

An official report of suspensions assessed during a Regional Championship shall be forwarded by the Hockey Canada representative for the series to the Hockey Canada Minor Council Director immediately following the series.

An official report of suspensions and/or sanctions shall be sent by the Hockey Canada Representative to the Executive Director of the appropriate Branch.  The report shall include any “balance owing” for games or other sanctions.

Dependent on the severity of the incidents, further disciplinary action may be imposed by the Officer responsible for discipline in the inter-branch playoffs or by the Officers of Hockey Canada.
