Major Atoms Season Comes to an End
Submitted By Tammy Donaldson on Friday, March 18, 2011
The Major Atoms ended their season Tuesday night in Brussels. This semi-final playoff series against the Hamilton Reps was a rollercoaster ride both emotionally and physically for the Major Atoms. With both teams earning 5 points each, it would go to a series deciding game 6.

The Lakers found themselves behind 4-1 half way through the game. The Major Atoms started to get some good momentum and decided they weren’t going down without a fight. The Lakers took advantage of Reps' penalty troubles and scored two quick goals and the team was rejuvenated. The Major Atoms pressured the Hamilton Reps' zone right up to the last second but were unable to find the back of the net. The Hamilton Reps would take the 4-3 win and the series.

Congratulations to all the players on a successful season. Overall, it was a great season for the ’00 Major Atoms, finishing up second place in the Alliance Pavilion AAA Eastern Division with a  17-13-2 record. The Major Atoms were semi-finalists in the Alliance Pavilion Playoffs and Silver Championship Finalists in the Rochester ’00 Invitational Tournament.

The Lakers coaches are very proud of all the players for their terrific effort during this season. Each player has improved both individually and as part of a team and also learned how hard players need to work each and every shift to compete at this level. You should all be very proud of yourselves, it was a pleasure to be in the stands and cheer on the Lakers!! Thanks to all the parents for supporting their children in regards to time & travel as well as their commitment & support of our Huron Perth Lakers Major Atom program.

We would like to thank the coaches and staff for their time & effort that they have put into making this an enjoyable AAA hockey experience. All the players (and parents) had a great time and really appreciated the opportunity to participate in an awesome hockey experience from a great hockey organization: Huron Perth Lakers.
