McKee and Goetz return as Lakers Head Coaches for the 2008-09 Season
Submitted By cmetzger on Friday, March 14, 2008
The Huron-Perth Lakers are pleased to announce that the following two Lakers coaches will be returning for the 2008-09 season: Corey McKee as Head Coach for the '98 Major Atoms and Todd Goetz as Head Coach for the '96 Major Peewees.

Corey is an Intermediate level coach, who coached at the Tyke, Novice, Bantam and Sr. levels before joining the coaching staff for Lakers Minor Atom ('97) team. This past season he was the Head Coach for the '98 Minor Atoms and will be returning to coach this group in their Major Atom year.

Corey's approach to coaching emphasizes teaching these young players to play to the best of their ability, with a competitive spirit, while understanding the importance of fair play & team play. Corey intends to see all his players improve over the coming year and recognizes that at this age FUN is important so as to ensure these players continue to enjoy the great game of hockey.

Corey grew up in Belgrave and played minor hockey in both Belgrave and Wingham. His Junior hockey experience consisted of Listowel Cyclones (Jr.B), Brussels Bulls (Jr.C), Exeter Hawks (Sr.) as well as playing in the WOAA senior ranks for 13 years. He resides in Belgrave with his wife, Cindy, and sons, Drew and Cole.

Todd is a returning Lakers coach as he lead the '96 Minor Peewees to a very successful season in 2007-08 concluding with a final-four finish in Alliance playdowns. He brings with him a wealth of Lakers experience as this will be his 6th year as a Lakers coach. Todd's emphasis on developing the whole athlete has resulted in tremendous success with the past teams he has coached.

Todd is also the present Chair of the Lakers' Hockey Operations Committee that oversees all program-related aspects of the Lakers team and player development. He also served as President of the Lakers during the 06/07 season.

Todd looks forward to providing a rewarding experience to the athletes and families that will comprise this year's Major Peewee Lakers.
