Brian Campbell and Matt Halischuck to play in Mark Bell Pyramid Classic
ST. MARYS, ON:  Brian Campbell, acquired by Chicago Blackhawks, and Matt Halischuk, of the Kitchener Rangers and a member of the 2008 Canadian World Junior championship team, are among the new players added to the roster for the ‘Mark Bell Pyramid Classic’ hockey game on Thursday, August 21 at the St. Marys Pyramid Recreation Centre.

Halischuk participated in the World Junior championships, where he scored the game-winning goal in overtime in the gold-medal game for Team Canada . Campbell recently signed with the Blackhawks after playing with the San Jose Sharks and Buffalo Sabres. This is his third year generously giving his time to play in the Bell Classic.

Players confirmed to join Mark Bell for this year’s Bell Classic include: Maple Leafs’ Vesa Toskala, Matt Stajan, Boyd Devereaux and former Leafs’ captain Doug Gilmour. Also playing are 2nd overall draft pick Drew Doughty, of London, who recently signed a three-year contract with the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings, San Jose draft pick Logan Couture, Colorado Avalanche’s Brian Willsie, Stanley Cup winner with the Detroit Red Wings Aaron Downey, Owen Sound Attack’s Joey Hishon, and Lori Dupuis, Jayna Hefford and Jennifer Botterill of the Canadian Women’s Olympic Team.

Recently back from Beijing , CBC news anchor Peter Mansbridge will lace up his skates to play with the pros and special guest Cynthia Dale will sing the National anthem to kick off the game.

Tickets are being sold for two lucky individuals to win the opportunity to play in the game along with the celebrities. Entrants must be 16 years of age or older. This year, odds of winning are even better, with a 1-in-25 chance to win! The draw will be made on Monday, Aug. 18 at 5 p.m. Tickets for the draw are $20, or three for $50. Tickets for admission into the game are: $10 for adults, $5 for 16 years of age and under, while 5 and under are free. Tickets are available at Dunny’s Source for Sports, ReMax St. Marys, McPhail’s Pet & Animal Needs, TD Bank, RBC in St. Marys and the Pyramid campaign office in the St. Marys train station.

Proceeds from the event will help raise additional funds for the new Pyramid Recreation Centre, which includes the addition of a second ice pad and aquatics centre.
