Lakers Alumnus Cody Thornton Wins University Championship
Huron-Perth Lakers alumnus Cody Thornton, as a member of the St. Mary's Huskies Mens Hockey team, won the CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sport) Championship in Thunder Bay this past weekend when the Huskies defeated the Alberta Golden Bears 3-2 in overtime.

Thornton was tied for the lead in tournament scoring and was named a tournament all-star.

Thornton played for the Huron Perth Lakers from 2000 to 2002 and was a member of the Alliance Champion Major Bantams in 2002.

After graduating from the Lakers, Thornton played 5 years in the OHL (3 years for the Belleville Bulls and 2 years for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds) before going to University. He is in his third year with the Huskies.
