Minor Bantams Claim Great Lakes Cup
This past weekend the minor bantams defended their home turf capturing the 6th Annual Great Lakes Cup Championship. The team played with great energy all weekend with a total team effort to go undefeated. Out of 14 teams only 4 would make the playoff round on Sunday.

The wins to get to Sunday started with North Bay Trappers 2-1, Oakville Rangers 3-1, Markham Waxers 7-1 and Peterborough Pete's 4-3. The Lakers finished 1st in the preliminary round and faced off against their rival the Waterloo Wolves. The game went back and forth and had a goal filled 3rd period. By the end of the game the Lakers outlasted the Wolves 4-3. In the Championship game the Lakers opposition was 2nd seed Southern Tier Admirals. Another high tempo game that was scoreless after 2 periods. 21 seconds into the 3rd period the home team finally found the back of the net to take the very important lead. Southern Tier pushed to get the equalizer, but the stingy Lakers shut them down. The Lakers would seal the victory with an insurance goal with 14 seconds left. It was a tremendous accomplishment for these boys and well deserved. Congratulations Minor Bantams - keep this going into the playoffs!! The team would like to thank the organizers, volunteers and parents for a great tournament
